Silence fills my ears with cotton wool, it presses down on me, consumes me. My heartbeats echoes through my body, unnaturally loud – pushes through the cotton wool. Undefined thoughts swirl round my head like fireflies. Intrusively bright they penetrate the soothing darkness. I try to catch them, pin them down, think them out and drive them away. But they slip through my fumbling mind without shape or form – illusive, indefinite, relentless.
